nano-hydroxyapatite
(nHa) toothpaste
A dentist-backed, non-toxic alternative to fluoride with remarkable properties.
Nano-hydroxyapatite is a microscopic (hence the "nano") derivative of hydroxyapatite, which is already in your teeth. nHa is non-toxic and proven to remineralize enamel and dentin more effectively than fluoride. Amazingly, it also reduces sensitivity, fights plaque and naturally whitens.
You can see why we are so excited to feature nHa in all of our fluoride-free toothpaste tablets!
Hydroxyapatite is already in your teeth
Enamel is the hardest structure in your body composed of 97% minerals including 90% hydroxyapatite as well as calcium and phosphate. Nano-hydroxyapatite provides the minerals needed to strengthen your teeth. nHa was developed in the 70s by NASA when fluoride wasn't doing enough to help astronauts' tooth degradation in space. Duo provides a fluoride-free toothpaste without compromise.
Nano-hydroxyapatite (nHa) remineralizes enamel & dentin
The nano-hydroxyapatite (nHa) in duo toothpaste replenishes and heals degraded tooth structure. Enamel is remineralized by penetrating porosities to replace dissolved calcium and phosphate and ultimately forms a new layer of enamel. Dentin is remineralized by penetrating the collagen matrix and providing a scaffold of calcium and phosphate.
Reduce sensitivity at the source with nano-hydroxyapatite (nHa)
Other methods of decreasing sensitivity, such as the potassium salt found in Sensodyne, only patch the problem of sensitivity by soothing nerves that send pain signals to the brain. Nano-hydroxyapatite (nHa) directly addresses the cause of sensitivity by plugging open dental tubules -- the access points to dental pulp and nerves -- and prevents painful stimuli from reaching those nerves in the first place. nHa also reduces hydrodynamic sensitivity by protecting the pulp from pressure changes that would otherwise cause pain.
Fight plaque with nano-hydroxyapatite (nHa)
Nano-hydroxyapatite (nHa) prevents plaque formation by binding to bacteria before it reaches teeth and periodontal tissues thereby preventing plaque formation. nHa has been found to reduce biofilm (plaque) as effectively as the antimicrobial mouth rinse Chlorhexidine without disrupting the oral biofilm with nonspecific caustic agents. That means that nHa is as tough on plaque as medicated mouthwash without destroying all the good bacteria in the mouth, which keeps the oral microbiome healthy.
Nano-hydroxyapatite (nHa) naturally whitens by creating new enamel
Nano-hydroxyapatite (nHa) increases the brightness and whiteness of the tooth surface by creating a new smooth and glossy layer of enamel. nHA’s effect on whitening is physiological rather than mechanical or chemical, which means it doesn't strip enamel or have the caustic effects of peroxides (bleach), which increase dental sensitivity and harm the oral microbiome. For patients that do use peroxide whiteners, the concurrent use of nHa toothpaste has been proven to reduce associated sensitivity.
